This fabulous family-friendly ski mountain is only a minute away from Honey Hollow Retreat. I like that it's less busy and costly than many other ski mountains. It has a good variety of slopes for various abilities and especially good for the beginning skier. They have other fun activates like tubing, mountain biking, adventure courses, fireworks,
More advanced skiers would probably prefer the 45 minute drive to Gore Mountain.

Hudson River Recreation Center is about 25 minutes from Honey Hollow. There are beautiful trails that lead to the river where the water is absolutely pristine. It's a wonderful place to cross country ski in the winter or have a picnic in the summer.
You are welcome to bring our tubes to the river. They are in the garage, already inflated. To make transporting them easier you can deflate the tubes and inflate them on site (you can bring our pump that plugs into your car).
Take the trail 1/8 mile straight to the river. When you see the river the trail will turn to the right. Follow the trail another 1/8 mile upstream and you will come to an area where you can walk down to the water. The water is normally fairly calm and you can float gently down and come out where you first saw the river. There are no lifeguards and you swim at your own risk. Bring your own lifejackets and helmets. Bring bug spray in case it's buggy. Contact me for additional advice.
Adirondack Adventure Center: 877 Lake Ave, Lake Luzerne, NY 12846 (518) 696-6133: If you prefer a longer, professionally-run tubing experience, this is a good option. They also have treetop and ziplining activities.

I highly recommend this company for a variety of rafting experiences. The season spans from the end of April to early October. Expect more challenging water in the spring. The minimum age is 5 for family friendly trips.

A true gem, the Hyde House was the early 1900's home of Louis and Charlotte Hyde. Charlotte's fortune came from her family's paper manufacturing business. This enabled the couple to purchase fine works of art on their trips to Europe and New York City. Two thirds of the collection were purchased by Charlotte after her husband's death in 1934. In 1952, Charlotte arranged a trust agreement that established the museum. Mrs. Hyde died on August 28, 1963. Three months later, The Hyde Collection opened to the general public.

This is a fun, beginner-friendly course. It's not too long or difficult. What I love the most is the beautiful view. Another good choice is Cronin's Golf Course in Warrensburg, situated along the Hudson River.
It's a minute away from Honey Hollow and so beautiful. Stay to the right on the orange and green trails as you enjoy a lovely 1/2 mile walk, bike or snowshoe down to the water. You can fish or swim at your own risk. During the summer the water flow is normally quite gentle.
STEWART'S LEDGE: Pilot Knob, NY An easy 20 minute walk/hike to beautiful views of Lake George.
Consider bringing a picnic lunch or a snack to enjoy. You start at the Buck Mountain trailhead at the southeast side of Lake George. Take the trail about 500 feet and you will come to an intersection. There will be bedrock on the path. Turn right onto the unmarked trail. Go approximately another 500 feet and you will see that you can take a slight left where the trail branches. Now you will begin a gentle assent that has a few steeper areas. You will notice some erratics (boulders left behind by an ancient glacier) along the way. Continue along, less than a mile, and you will get to a steeper section that brings you to the top where you will head back north and come to a series of very large outcroppings of ledge rock that overlooks the lake. Enjoy the fabulous view!
This may be my favorite mountain to hike and worth the 50 minute drive to Johnsburg, Warren County. It is a moderate to hard hike depending on the trails you choose. It's fabulous in that it offers various terrains, landscapes, and beautiful views. There are several big ladders to climb along the way and a large, refreshing pond which is a popular summer swimming hole. You can camp there as well!
Tongue Mountain: Hike along Lake George's Northwest Bay or hike up to one of the summits and camp at a lean-to with stunning views of the lake.
Shelving Rock Falls: Hike to a waterfall and down to the east shore of Lake George by the very popular Log Bay.
Prospect Mountain: You can hike or drive to the summit with rewarding views of the Lake, not far from Lake George Village.
High Peaks: Serious hikers may wish to drive an hour north to get to more challenging hikes like the plus 5,000+ ft Mount Marcy. My favorite is Giant Mountain (1 hr away) or a scenic drive to the top of Whiteface Mountain (2 hours away), by Lake Placid
